Persians
The Persians were some very powerful Indo-Europeans. They conquered Babylon (and let the enslaved Jews free). Their empire went all the way to India. They even had control of the Ionian Greeks for a while. (Though they never conquered the Athenians or Spartans, who banded together in an unusual bout of cooperation.) But the entire Persian Empire fell to Alexander the Great. Their culture, however, did mix with Alexander's Greek culture--and so it lives on today.
