Angel Alexander - Devil Alexander
Born in 356 BC, Alexander the Great was just that: Great. He was the son of Philip II of Macedonia, and he proved his military prowess at age 18. As a young man, he led a successful conquest of Europe, and ended up conquering most of the civilized world in just 9 years, including the Persian Empire. He had a glorious vision of a composite Greek-Persian culture, and was a cultrally respectful conqueror. He was clearly very bright, and even sent scientific specimens back home. It's a shame he died so young--at age 33--imagine what he could have accomplished, given more time.
Alexander the Great was... not so great. He was ruthless, killing even his own father (Philip II, conqueror of the Greek City States) to achieve his means. As he gained more power, he cruelly forced his officers to take Persian wives, even if they had wives at home. He even attempted to deify himself, forcing his subjects to kiss his hand. He died after a drinking party.
